how to sleep better and faster

A small study has found that reading books with these types of electronic devices before bedtime can affect sleep .

Sleeping problems.

New research has found that e-book users took longer to fall asleep and felt more sleepy in the morning.

Twelve healthy young adults were randomly assigned to read an e-book in a dimly lit room for four hours before going to bed for five consecutive nights or to read a printed book for the same amount of time .

Blood samples were then taken to measure melatonin levels, and the amount of time it took each participant to sleep and the duration of each sleep phase was recorded.

 More time to fall asleep.

Compared to reading a printed book, using a portable light-emitting device to read immediately before bedtime prolongs the time it takes to fall asleep, delays the circadian clock , suppresses the levels of the hormone melatonin that promotes sleep , r educe and delay REM sleep time  and decrease alertness the following morning .
